Missed appointments without prior notice are also chargeable. Exceptions may be made in exceptional circumstances at my discretion.
Confidentiality
Everything discussed during counselling is treated as confidential.
However, confidentiality may be broken if:
-
There is a serious risk of harm to yourself or another person.
-
There are safeguarding concerns involving a child or vulnerable adult.
-
Disclosure is required by law.
Where possible, I will always discuss this with you first.
Online Counselling
If you choose online counselling, you are responsible for ensuring you have:
-
A reliable internet connection.
-
A quiet, private space.
-
Suitable equipment for video calls.
If technical difficulties occur, I will make every effort to reconnect or rearrange the session where appropriate.
Professional Standards
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. I also undertake regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development to maintain high professional standards.
Emergencies
Counselling is not an emergency service.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or are at immediate risk of harm, please contact:
-
999 if you or someone else is in immediate danger.
-
NHS 111 for urgent medical advice.
-
Your GP or local Crisis Team.
Ending Counselling
Counselling can end whenever you feel ready, or we may decide together that it is the right time to bring our work to a close. Where possible, I recommend discussing the ending during a final session to allow for reflection and a planned ending.
